Critique on Target

Logging onto www.target.com I saw thinks I both liked and disliked. First, I will touch upon the positive things about it. First, it was very self explanatory. On the side were the different departments which had drop down bars. The search bar was very clear and easy for customers to get to. Scrolling all the way down, the links to Target’s social media pages were very clear and easy to find. At the complete bottom were links which followed more of the corporate side: job openings, press releases, suppliers and other things along those lines. The overall design of the website was very slick, with clear lines and simple colors. On the other hand, I found many things I disliked about the website as well. When thinking of bad websites, Target always comes to mind. While the website is slick, it is also lacking appeal. There are minimal graphics on the opening page other than one box which has a few that rotate. Also, the colors are not very appealing. It is just red, black, white and gray. The font is also very boring and everything on the page has that font. While I understand trying to unify it, there is a difference between unity and being just plain boring. Also, the drop down bars are extremely boring. It seems like every word has a drop down bar so anywhere you move the mouse there is some list appearing which is quite annoying. The biggest improvement this website needs to see is a complete remodel. Buyers will come to this page and not find anything appealing. Nothing sticks out to the eye which grabs customers to purchase things displayed on the website. Target probably has thousands of people logging onto it everyday and has so much potential.
