Taken By Force: The Abduction of Nefertiri Trader

A neighbor saw her get forced into the backseat of her own car but didn’t call police.

Nefertiri Trader, a 33-year-old mother of three, decided to take a late-night drive to a convenience store on June 30, 2014. There was a 7–11 store a few minutes away from her home in the Saddlebrook neighborhood of New Castle, Delaware, and Nefertiri — called Neffie by her friends — was a regular there. Neffie had been living in her Saddlebrook home for nearly a decade, and often went to the 7–11 late at night to get coffee or cigarettes. She was currently on medical leave from her job at Christiana Hospital, and tended to stay up until the wee hours of the morning.

It was sometime around 3:30 am when she decided to go to the 7–11 on this particular night. She made the drive there and back without incident. It’s unclear exactly what happened after she parked her car in her driveway, but her family does not believe she ever made it back inside her home.

Joe Robinson, who lived across the street from Neffie, woke up at 4:00 am when he heard what he thought was a scream.
