The Unsolved Abduction of Teekah Lewis

The 2-year-old vanished from a bowling alley in 1999, and police believe she was taken by a predator.

Teekah Lewis was too young to play video games, but whenever her family went to Tacoma, Washington’s New Frontier Lanes bowling alley, the 2-year-old was immediately drawn to the flashing bright lights of the arcade section. Saturday evening, January 23, 1999 was no different. About a dozen members of Teekah’s extended family went to the bowling alley that night; most of them stayed near one of the bowling lanes but Teekah wanted to play in the arcade. Her mother, Theresa English, spent the night following Teekah as she checked out the various arcade games.

Around 10:15 pm, Teekah sat down in the driver’s seat of the “Cruisin’ World” game, where she held tightly to the steering wheel and pretended she was driving the car on the video screen. Theresa told Teekah to stay there for a moment while she checked on her other children who were still congregated at one of the lanes just a few feet away. Theresa turned her back on Teekah for only a few seconds, but when she turned back around, the little girl was nowhere in sight.

Concerned, Theresa quickly scanned the small arcade area, looking in between each machine in case Teekah was trying to play hide-and-seek…
