ROOTS: It Was Never About Slavery
Bedford Palmer

Thank you for this great piece. I loved this book as a kid who’d grown up during the 1960s unrest and riots in Washington DC. As a teen, Haley made sense of the ugly things I’d witnessed, the horrible history of our country, and bolstered my burgeoning activism, fueled in no small part by my mom and older sisters. It’s important to keep talking about how important the Civil Rights Movement was then and is now, for all.
