The Problem with Gratitude

The dark side of gratitude that most don’t realize

You should NOT be thankful for everything.

gratitude cannot save us

The problem with gratitude is that it is an expander. Whatever you apply gratitude to, it will expand it.

My thinking that gratitude needed to be applied to everything, even the things I don’t want, kept the things I don’t want repeating in my life.

I thought gratitude was to be applied to literally everything, to make everything ok, as a healthy coping mechanism. Whatever you go through, apply some gratitude and it’ll be ok, gratitude can make it better, just practice it every day, gratitude is a muscle (I still believe that though), work it out and gratitude can fix everything. Right?

Except, gratitude is an EXPANDER. It was never meant to make everything ok or to ease your wounds. Gratitude can help heal wounds if applied to the lesson learned from your pain or obstacle. So in that way, gratitude is essential for healing. Often to move past obstacles we have to be thankful, not for the hardship or pain (hardship should feel hard that’s the point), but for the LESSON learned. Which is the slave to any wound; growth (expansion) from the lesson learned.

So gratitude needs to be applied to what we really are thankful for, what we what more of, and to the lessons, we learned from the obstacle.

Because Gratitude is an expander it can make old filters of perception fall from our eyes, revealing the perfect divine touch in every moment of existence.

Because gratitude is an expander, what it is applied to will be magnified.

Think about it, when someone says thank you to you for anything, it makes you want to give them more of that right? Same thing in the ether/ spiritual/ universe/ cosmic realm (whatever you want to call it), what we say thank you for will keep repeating.

So don’t be thankful for the pain or hardship, wake up and realize the lesson in the pain so that you can be thankful for the lesson and move on to something new.

Be thankful for the things you haven’t received but you know are coming, because I promise what you want will materialize a lot faster that way.

So if you are at a job that you hate, stop being thankful, that icky feeling you get means it’s time to change. The body doesn’t lie, don’t curve your feelings in the name of gratitude. Feel all your feelings every day.

The stuff you aren’t thankful for, become aware of how to change it or remove it from your life because being thankful for what you don’t like to temporarily feel better, is very dangerous for our wellbeing.

Not only does it delay our realization that something is not right and needs to change, but it also keeps the stuff we don’t want around, around even longer.

Gratitude expands so send gratitude for what you want to cultivate more of, it grows that fast!

Stop being thankful for what you don’t want just to “raise your vibration” because it might work and you might feel better for the moment or the lesson will be lost and the very thing you don’t want, will come around again. To change what we don’t want, the change begins with us, so use gratitude to change you and expand you in all the ways you want and need.
