Accompanies pain, but do not drown in it

Accompanying is a sign of generosity, but drowning in the pain of others is a lack of perspective. Helping others to solve their problems is a sign of compassion, but charging us with their problems on our shoulders is useless. Living the emotions of others is a sign of empathy, letting them overwhelm us is useless and harmful.
