Read Dead October — Chapter 1

He woke up in the middle of the day to see her still lying there. It was the most bizarre feeling in the world. He had tossed her aside like he had with all the others. He leant down to kiss her cheek and she awoke, smiling sweetly. She looked up into those cold dead eyes, like stagnant pools of black mercury, and realised what was going to happen just a second too late. He raised the gun to her left temple and pulled the trigger. Blood and brains splattered all over the walls and yet she was so peaceful she might have been sleeping. He took a step back from her, watching her bare chest now covered in blood and thought how unfulfilling she was. Sex - the coldest killer of all. And yet she had wanted it, had freely given it to him and he had obligingly taken it from her. Troubled though he was that he had killed again; it was almost amusing that she appeared to be sleeping. He wondered what she had felt last night; but it was too late to recall her memories...she had gone where he could not follow.
