I can’t actually answer for Caitlyn, but as I understand it, her belief is that she was always female in the truest sense of her being. Like a product that has somehow been mislabeled and misidentified, she wanted to change her outside to reflect what she was inside.

I’m confused by your analogy comparing Caitlyn’s gender reassignment to ethnic or racial identity. What does it even mean to feel Asian or Hispanic? I’m white , but I wouldn’t know what it meant to feel white, nor could I imagine saying I felt another ethnicity. Aren’t any such assumptions based on stereotypes or racism?
