I’ve had a full-time position as UX practitioner for a year now after finishing a MSc in HCI. I’m having a really hard time finding the right direction to meet my goals. When I was in university I largely focused on the things I liked, IA and interaction design with quant and qual analysis thrown in on the side but I feel I haven’t been able to find a job that fits this description. Ultimately my goal is to have a freelance consulting job, maybe doing some post-secondary teaching on the side, but I feel like that is decades away, especially since my career seems to be taking me in more the research direction (which I’m not necessarily happy with).
