They must maintain the progress to reduce the risk of failure, maximize benefits and minimize costs.The ability to adapt to the various internal procedures of the client , is essential in ensuring that the key issues of cost, time, quality and above all, client satisfaction, can be realized. This will be the key to a project success.

Some specific steps organization can take to provide a supportive culture for project management: Organizations must make some major cultural changes. they need to make sure that veveryone fully understand the value of of project management , require that executive sponsors are fully engaged on project and programs and align their projects to the organizations.

a. What do you think the real problem was in this case?

Because of his highly energetic and intelligence, Nick was unable to execute his roles and responsibilities as a project manager. He is unaware that he did not provide the accurate schedule and clear plan for the project.

b. Does the case present a realistic scenario? Why or why not?

Yes, it can present in realistic scenario, for a first timer like Nick he doesn’t even know what is the function of a project manager is, because he had been the lead software developer before, that’s why he focuses on being the software integrator and troubleshooter.

c. Was Nick Carson a good project manager? Why or why not?

No, although Nick deliver the project on time, he can’t be called a good project manager because he did not follow some of the responsibility of being a good project manager, he doesn’t provide an accurate schedules or detailed some plans of what was happening on the project.

d. What should top management have done to help Nick?

Top management should have done clear communication with Nick, because he is new with the work of a project manager, Top management must have discussed all the works and the plan of the project.

e. What could Nick have done to be a better project manager?

Nick should have develop the project plan, manage the project schedule, conflicts and manage an open communication. A good project manager must ensure that project participants can voice their opinions and concerns about the project. The major responsibility of a project manager may vary depending on the company culture.
