I am so pleased you have posted this. At the ripe old age of 55 I am now just going to Uni and was surprised that in the classes they gave trigger warnings. Never in my whole life had i seen anything like it before. I am doing psychology and I would of thought that the students who are going to be psychologists need to be able to handle the stuff that clients tell them and part of that is surely uncomfortable knowledge they need to know. The world has more trauma now than it has had for a long time — if forever. There are more refugees now than at the end of the second world war. We need to be able to handle what is happening to people. My motto is if it happened to a fellow human (maybe even an animal) then the rest of us need to listen. If you don’t want to listen to something uncomfortable, then you need to do something about it so that no-one else has to experience what this person experienced.
