The Democratic Party has continually sold out its liberal base, pursuing a side that will never vote for them. The party continues to believe in “Moderate and the GOP will like you,” no matter how many times the GOP proves that no matter what they do, they will never like them. In fact, this strategy probably makes them hate them all the more: no one, not even bullies, like toadies.
Given that the Democratic Party consistently tries Bipartisanship no matter how many times it blows up in their faces, given that most Americans, when polled, overwhelmingly support liberal causes, but the DNC persists in believing that this is a Center-Right nation, thus conceding the fight before it’s ever begun (something they do a lot), it makes you wonder who exactly the Democrats serve? It certainly doesn’t represent the side it claims to.
But I’m sure a bunch of apologists are going to leap in and explain how the Democrats are playing some version of eleventh-level chess and are secretly liberal firebrands no matter how many times they concede the fight to the other side and present watered-down versions of the other side’s arguments.
And if we just keep our mouths shut and don’t say anything critical like, “Okay the other guys are obviously evil, but what are you doing to stop them besides whine ineffectually and surrender?” Center-Right milquetoast politicians will magically transform into liberal firebrands upon election. But if we keep criticizing them, that breaks the magical spell, so it’s the critics’ fault when everything goes south.
Like I tell people, it’s fun being part of the Dissatisfied Left. Merely by existing and making critical remarks, we cost the Democratic Party elections. Yet at the same time, the party sees no reason to try to win our favor by going further left.
