Seek Discomfort Before it Finds You

(And finally step into your power)

Discomfort and growth, you can’t have one without the other. I’m sure you’ve heard variations of sayings or have seen the quotes floating around social media, such as:

“Life begins outside your comfort zone”

“Discomfort is the currency of your dreams”

“Fear, uncertainty, and discomfort are your compasses towards growth”

I whole-heartedly agree with all of these. I love discomfort. It’s a reminder that I’m alive, it brings me into the present moment, and it’s an opportunity for change and growth.

However, I see a lot of people waiting for these uncomfortable situations to come to them. They agree with the sentiment, but then wait for an uncomfortable opportunity to arrive to then put it into practice. But this is not the ideal means to engage with discomfort. In order to truly see growth, you must search for it.

I believe in seeking out discomfort rather than waiting for discomfort to find you. Put it into practice daily. Why? By waiting for the discomfort to come to you it leaves you unprepared and at a disadvantage. Rather, when you start seeking discomfort, you can prepare yourself.
