Melanie Martinez likes vintage toys and dresses, all of her music videos are the same style, pinkish darkish, dark fairytale like.

First Draft

I didn’t know much about how to do, so I end up messing around with the words around. However I was thinking of doing the same colour theme with the artist.

The artist likes pink and blue, it is all over her album covers.

Since the song is called Carousel and the music video is setting in America playland at the 90s; so I decided to do something relative to vintage tickets.

I found few examples that I really like.

Vintage tickets are no more than three colours, and heavy textured paper, the types are very wood type like.

Second Draft

This is the one that I brought to school to critique last week. I got the comments that this is too dark, and the with the colourfulness that the artist have, I should be having more colours. The big circles at the two side are not working out too,It feels like something is missing.

I am trying out different colours, and I changed the shapes too.

Third Draft

First I thought of printing this out, but I think there is still need improvements on the colour, so I keep searching on references.

Fourth Draft

I like the stripe patterns behind the ticket, it shows my main component of the ticket. But then I think that the background is too dark.

Final Poster

I adjust so many times with the colours of the fonts, the colours before are either too pale or too dark, I want to have something bright, candy like. Just like the style of the artist.
