No blathering at all!

I’m super glad if it helps! That I can just set things up to make a tiny donation, manage them all centrally, and have enough other people chip in likewise and let people quit their day jobs — it’s delightful. My perspective is as a supporter. I’m sure people who are actively getting support from it would have other advice, I just know what works from my perspective.

I’ve seen a lot of people apologize for asking for money on Patreon, and I beg you not to apologize for it. It isn’t charity, and it’s not tips, it’s me saying to you, “Hey, I value what you do and I want you to do more of it.”

(And just for perspective, the amount of support people get does not correlate closely to their competence at content creation, it correlates closely to their ability to create community and tap into the specific demographics that Patreon hits. Some of my favorite musicians are there and not getting a whole lot, though I’d say it’s “growing slowly” rather than “failing”)
