I think you’re adding to the unwarranted hype.
Intelligence, much less artificial intelligence, is incredibly poorly understood. Kevin Kelly’s article above does a great job of laying out the fallacious premises upon which the hype is based.
The sad fact here, AI is already here, we just don’t call it that. From the lowliest database query to the most complex six-degree of freedom robotic automation, we have integrated, into our lives, a myriad number of artificial intelligences. Certainly not general purpose intelligence, but that’s one of the mythical central conceits of the AI buzz.
