Not sure if I follow. Is this like saying that black slaves losing their freedom in the antebellum south was necessary so that the whites of America could live in peace? Or that we shouldn’t fret over panopticon, and being body cavity searched by police in order to stop potential terror threats at the mall? Or is it just that we should be able to tear down artwork that we deem offensive, and stop people from doing things like, placing religious statuary in bottles of urine?

Perhaps I’m simply not understanding your point, but to me, any sacrifice of free speech isn’t just worth fretting over, it’s one of the most important things in the world to fret over. Once you give authorities the power to control your speech, it will come back and bite you. Make rules that work even if your preferred government *isn’t* in power, and you’ll be much better off :)
