Java doesn’t use Pointers due to the difficulty in maintenance. As for C#, references are improved with added keywords that either goes in or out (didn’t dive much into this as my stomach got inside out)…

And yes we’re going back to vanilla. Don’t worry this is probably just a history rewrite or a movie reboot especially made by people who found compiling took too long. Go still has it’s disadvantage like that large initial exe file it produces
