Cynical Valley

I see the cracks in your plastic smiles

I see dollar signs glowing in your eyes

I see y’all rising in tall buildings

Rubbing shoulders in metallic boxes,

Propelled straight up into an empty sky

Pursuing your neighbor’s dream

Silicon Valley

Pursuing a stranger’s dream

I see you sitting

In dull morning meetings

With no heart beating

This is the life you’re seeking

And your souls are sinking

Silicon Valley

Murdering words with your numbers

Muttering lies in your chambers

Silently calculating the odds

Of an odd future with no god

Nor nature.

And the homeless men, walking down your dark alleys

Are singing “Cynical Valley, cynical valley

Your not my dream”.
