Christian Laforte I disagree that this role should be played by a CTO in a larger company as the interactions with the AI commons and the availability of data have little to do with technology. The CTO role is about the how (technology) not the what (data driven) or why (a viable point of differentiation). Which is fine; both CTOs and CIOs are important. The only exception I would make would be for an earlier stage company with a founder-CTO; that person is required to wear several hats and could be effective in doing both.
