The Crush Part I — Love and travel in Estonia

My love of travel started many years ago when I was in college. I had the opportunity to visit Estonia — a country that was part of the former Soviet Union. During the early to mid-90s, Estonia was beginning to establish its independence as it opened its doors to the West.

Back in college, I had only flown on an airplane once in my life. Now here I was flying to the other side of the world to a country I didn’t know much about. A country that was so culturally different than anything I knew. During my trip to Estonia, I discovered something inside of me — a passion for culture, adventure, and connection.

This is Part I of a story about discovering love —of travel, adventure, and an Estonian girl.

Here I was back in Estonia for the first time in a few years. All of my friends that I met years ago were here — Ilmar, Maria, Meelika, Dema, Helena — and Alisa.
