Before i knew it, i was on to my 2nd assignment; the redesign of a school’s webpage. Specifically, Singapore Polytechnic’s Professional and Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy, SP PACE for short.

Me and my partner Penny, decided to do the research phase with 2 other classmates, Phoebe and Tom. The process started with an internal assessment of the site, auditing the content of the site and also identifying usability problems through Heuristic Evaluation.

Next, we interviewed users to understand their initial usability, and validate on the usability issues we initially identified.

Questions for our users

We conducted competitor analysis for both local and overseas schools, comparing their information architecture and possible user flows, and their layouts.

We also did a hybrid card sorting(sorting via provided categories and allowing the option for user defined categories)for the information in the menu, which would make the respective pages more accessible. Based on the card sorting results, we next proceeded with the Tree Jack testing, which is essentially the testing of the revised menu. This allowed users to try test the labelling of the site, to see if they could find the information required.
