Swim like a Shark

My old man (man he’s getting old) told me to be like a shark.

He meant to always be moving — instead of being idle. Always moving like a shark.

Sharks are considered one of the greatest predators on Earth. Yes they have an enormous amount of deadly sharp teeth. But more importantly they are always on the move… always hunting… always looking to improve their situation (as I have translated in human form.) Sharks don’t stay idle, they stay on the move. One of the few predators that can hold true to such an acclaim. Bears, as fierce as they are, can hibernate up to 8 months. Lions just might be (actually are) king of the jungle, but male lions don’t even hunt — it’s the females whom make the kill. Even in doing so the females quickly get exhausted in that intense desert sun, and do much relaxing in the shade. The shark doesn’t know what shade is. The shark — in their environment — don’t need shade, they just need water, and have plenty of it.

The shark continuously moves.

Now, this doesn’t mean to put your house up for sale, or to start doing jumping jacks, rather, if you’re depressed or idle; then move.

It also doesn’t mean to avoid stillness. There is a difference between being still and apathy. It is very important to be still, with no sound or distraction. To become aware of your thoughts and the world around you. To be aware of the silence between thoughts — allowing yourself to quiet your mind. I could go into further detail, however, Eckhart Tolle does a much better job in his book entitled “Stillness Speaks.”

I’m referring to avoiding depression due to apathy.

Motion creates emotion.

Positive emotion creates positive change.

Turn obstacles into opportunities.

Channel your pain into something positive.

Let pain be the food that feeds your inner Shark.

Show your doubters the definition of strength and save them the time of looking it up in Webster’s Dictionary.

Swim like a Shark……

and be FUCKING AWESOME!
