Last week, we spent time addressing why corporate diversity programs are not a good starting place for pursuing real, long-standing workplace culture change.

Given the especially difficult summer 2020 has been for Black & other underrepresented people, we knew it was important to clearly communicate how it de-prioritizes the people within your organization & perpetuates an already broken system.

The current system assumes if you just put in enough effort things might change. Showcasing more visible diversity on company’s careers pages isn’t enough of a response. It is actually harmful when it doesn’t include concrete investments for long-standing culture change.

This begs the question:

What can teams do to meaningfully create cultural change in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion?

We’re excited to answer that question with the announcement of Ascending’s DEI Accelerator: the first-of-its-kind community for teams committed to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.

Ascending’s DEI Accelerator is for forward-thinking companies on the leading edge of DEI. We’re seeking to partner with teams who are looking for clear guidance, opportunities to listen more intently & ways to practically apply our expertise.

What can teams do to meaningfully create cultural change in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion?

Teams like Strava, Popdog & Loaded — our Ascending Founding Partner companies — have already been involved in our behind-the-scenes alpha efforts. These teams are on the forefront of real, team-culture change for their current (and future!) employees. Each company’s People Leadership has proudly committed to partnering with us as a public statement of solidarity for fostering Equity, Diversity & Inclusion and we couldn’t be more thrilled to journey alongside them.

Our cohort is structured as the following:

  • 6 months duration beginning September 2020 thru January 2021
  • 30 teams (3 already filled by alpha, so only 27 spots available!)
  • 4 weeks of initial on-boarding, resourcing & training paired with ongoing, real-time, DEI analytics.
