Thanks for continuing to follow the story of Ascending. It’s been an exciting 3+ weeks since our Juneteenth launch announcement (you can read that here, if you haven’t already.)
During the past few weeks, we’ve been working diligently behind the scenes and we’re excited to begin sharing some of the first fruits of our labor. On that note, some of you might have noticed we’ve been using the royal-we in our communication. And maybe a couple of you have thought, who are these [royal] “we’s” they speak of?
Well, if you have wondered then you’re in luck because we’re taking the next two weeks to focus on announcing our Ascending Launch team & foundational partners! You’ll get to see the folx who are working behind-the-scenes to help make the magic that is Ascending.

To kick things off, we’re highlighting our Founder & CEO, Jeremy Evans-Smith. Keep reading to get a quick highlight on who he is, where he’s coming from and how to connect with him.
Jeremy Evans-Smith — he/him
Where Jeremy calls Home: Oakland, CA.
Role at Ascending: Utility Outfielder, more commonly known as CEO & Founder.
In Jeremy’s own words, why choose to join/ build Ascending? I’m fortunate that the vision of Ascending feels like a natural reflection of my convictions. I grew up in a cross-cultural environment that forced me to see & engage with other experiences, namely of white majority folx. Joining/ building Ascending is the equivalent of letting others into our (Black+) experiences while also carving space to promote Black+ life, celebration & thriving.
What’s a fun fact or favorite hobby we can share with the people? I’m a spinning-fanatic but low key refuse to purchase a Peloton bike! (maybe one day that’ll change…)
