A light-hearted, Saturday morning note about my personal dance with coffee dependency
I don’t drink coffee. I haven’t had a sip since 2011, although I enjoy the taste. People ask me how I get through the day, especially with long hours. Here’s what I’ve learned to keep myself from burning out:
1. Do something where play and work mean the same thing.
2. Don’t rely on anything but your own motivation and creativity.
3. Surround yourself with people who follow steps 1 & 2.
Note: I’m not advocating that people stop drinking coffee. If you happen to find yourself reaching for it because you struggle to work without it, identity if you align with all three steps above. If you do not, finding a solution may result in coffee being less of a dependency.
