In this guide, I will demonstrate how to install applications via the Terminal. It’s not scary; I promise. This process is quick and easy to do. The most common use case for this is setting up your Mac for the first time. That process can be cumbersome if you’re visiting every website, but macapps.link saves the day.
First up, open Safari (since this is installed by default) and type — macapps.link
You will see the homepage with apps grouped by type, in the example below, they are grouped by “internet” or more accurately, web browser. But as you scroll down, you will see this site contains a multitude of options.
From here, start clicking your desired app icons down the list. In my example, I will be choosing Firefox, Chrome, and Evernote. — (Team Oxford Comma haha)
Steps 1–3 are my selected applications. Step 4 is to proceed to the next step. Apologies if the numbers are too small in the screenshot:
- Firefox
- Chrome
- Evernote
- Install {# of selections} apps
