Great and extensive article, but the thing missing are the two major drawbacks of WebP:

Thanks for your kind words on this article, and I agree with you on these two drawbacks. I had intended to include it, but you put it succinctly and perfectly. I’ve found that lossy WebP tends to work very well at quality settings above 60, but larger images (like hero images) tend to suffer somewhat.
