Wow, Canva is just stacked with various features these days, isn’t it? I mean, our digital world was shook with the release of Text to Image, and now we have Canva Docs? I had my wishful thinking, but I didn’t know Canva could actually read my mind and grant wishes!

Jokes aside, let’s dive right into what Canva Docs has to offer. And no worries, I’ll do my best to keep this short and compact. I have other stuff to do too.

Canva Docs is a pretty cool addition…

So let’s start with Canva’s biggest hype, Magic Write.

Magic Write is an AI writing assistant. It’s supposed to help you develop ideas much faster so you can write content painlessly. I think this tool would really come in handy during those slow days when your brain just won’t cooperate.

According to Canva, you could use it to generate social media posts, business plans, websites, blogs, poems, journaling, and even creative writing! So I guess, every type of writing under the sun.

Now let’s find out what sort of magic Magic Write brings to the table. First, you can easily navigate this tool by clicking the plus button. Then, to test it out, I typed 5 tips on how to design collages on Canva.

So what do you think? Hopefully, the image loads fully so that you can see the result. I personally think it’s pretty impressive!

But maybe the phrasing is a tad too dull for you. Of course, you can always rephrase it in your own words… But the whole point of Magic Write is to ease the writing process.

So let’s exploit this tool to the fullest, shall we? Let’s do a little tweaking by adding an adjective to what I typed earlier — 5 fun tips on how to design collages on Canva.

Wow, that’s a drastic difference, don’t you think? I like this one better. It’s easier to read, which has better chances for readers to stay a little longer on your webpage.

I have to say. It’s a pretty sweet tool!

Alright. Enough swooning over Magic Write. Let’s get to know the other tools. You know, the less popular ones. The normies:

  • Text style like, Heading 1, Heading 2, and Body/paragraph.
  • Table.

It’s super easy to add a Table in Canva Docs.
  • Pie chart, Bar chart, and Line chart. If you’ve used Canva to present your sales charts of class assignments, then you’d have no problem doing the same in Canva docs.
  • Embed (</>) links of images, your Canva designs, Spotify tracks (or Apple Music if that’s your thing), YouTube videos, social media posts… Pretty much anything with a web link!
  • Timer, which you’ve probably used for your presentation. But I guess you can also use it to manage your time writing content.
  • Design to instantly create and add banners or dividers to introduce a new section of your content.

  • Checklist, Bulleted list, Numbered list.
  • Add Emojis to make your content more fun and chill. Now, I know some content writers think adding Emojis makes bad writing. But come on! It’s 2023, for crying out loud! We’re in a different era of writing, especially digital writing!
  • You can also add your company, brand, or website Logo to the document.

Welp, I guess we’ve pretty much covered all the tools available in Canva docs.

Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier. You can also convert your document into a presentation! Say whaaat??? 😲

Whaddya think?

If you ask me, I think it’s alright. Of course, the biggest deal here for me is Magic Write. There are others I can live without, and the basic ones are available in the classic word processors.

Am I going to use Canva Docs to draft all of my blog posts from now on?

That’s a big fat NO. I’m used to writing on Google Docs, and old habits die hard. 😂

But in all seriousness, it’s because I can’t set a proper format for my Content Management System (CMS). So writing a draft in Canva Docs will just add more work once I copy-paste everything to my CMS.

This goes the same for freelance writers. I’m sure you don’t want to submit poorly formatted work to your clients.

But other than that, Canva Docs seems to be a striking start for the era of visual writing! Like the classic Canva, there are so many things to explore here.
