Hi Sidni, I rarely get bit into replying to these types of articles but this is, form my point of view, so out of touch that I felt I had to respond. First if you are going to make statements to support an opinion you should make sure they are valid. Trying to infer that woman are half of the climbing industry by using a generic outdoor stat is simply wrong and using false facts lends to defeat your entire point of view. Second, we do not think of Honold as bad ass because of Reel Rock, Honold was a bad ass and Real Rock took notice, this is how it works, and climbers nation and world wide were aware of this before Real Rock filmed him. Lastly, as a personal friend of Andrew I can assure you that I have never seen a feminist act out of him. Furthermore from what I have seen in the media he has done more to promote discussion about gender than anyone, period, and at the wall he has unwavering support of all regardless of age, sex or color, (gumbies aside). In closing if Andrew were really sexist I doubt he would be married to such an amazing woman who regularly kicks his ass on the wall, displaying that Andrew is not insecure in the company of a strong, confident woman, and doesn’t sexism generally stem from insecurity. Maybe some people don’t understand Andrew’s satirical point of view, which I personally think not only makes his writing enjoyable to read but is an excellent way of making abstract points clear and easily digestible.
