Which smartwatch should you pick?
The majority of smartwatches survive a day or two, which is truly too short. The world does not need another thing to charge every single night!

Let’s talk about smartwatches for a moment. I use them for quite some time and I am a bit fan! But, in the same time, I don’t think this product will gain popularity. As a matter of fact, people don’t buy them — and I think I know why.
First of all, the operating systems on those watches are not user friendly and are not intuitive. For now, using a smartwatch is a hassle, while it should be a tool that helps.
Another thing is the battery — they do not last long. The majority of smartwatches survive a dya or two, which is truly too short. The world does not need another thing to charge every single night! From my point of view, the moment when producers combine an open platform for applications (like Android Wear or Watch OS) with an improved battery life, will be the moment when this gadget will become interesting for mass consumers.
Which smartwatch should you pick? It depends on what you are planning to use it for.
I will use it for sport tracking
If you do any sports and GPS tracking is an important feature for you, I would suggest a smartwatch which I use — a Garmin watch. I had three Garmin smartwatches: Vivofit, Fenix 3, now I use a Fenix 5x. All of them were great, all of them had great sports apps and a battery lasting about 1 week.
I asked the same question to my friends while we were having lunch and the discussion shortly turned to be in a different direction. Instead of discussing which smartwatch to choose, we started talking about whether or not it is useful to have one. Well, the opinions were split. One of my friends does not have even a normal watch, but he notices the positive side of measuring your body’s conditions, especially if you are doing sports. The other one, on the contrary, is afraid that smartwatches will distract people from normal human interaction, to an extent even greater than the smartwatches.

Myself, I am using a smartwatch which measures my resting heart rate. Thanks to this measurement, I had a chance to understand that there are moments during the day when I am subconsciously stressed (even though I am not fully aware about that), such as getting ready in the morning. I have decided to wake up 20 minutes earlier, in order to give myself more time to prepare. And it worked — no more stress in the morning.
I will not use it for sports tracking
Coming back to the subject of choosing a right smartwatch for you. If sport is not a very important for you, I would suggest picking a smart band, instead of a smartwatch. Xiaomi made a very good one, called Mi Band 2. It costs a few hundred zlotys on Allegro (Polish equivalent of eBay) and provides the basic measurement of your physical activity, such as: how many steps have you done, how active you have been, some basic notifications from your phone, etc. The battery lasts about a week, so if you are looking for something simple — it might be a good place to start.
I am very curious how this market is going to develop. I am a happy user of the smartwatch and I am looking forward to seeing all innovations to come.
