The act of being selfless is often considered as gainless. Is that right?

No, we do get something from being selfless — happiness! When those people who get helped curves their lips to form a small sweet smile, how can you not be happy? Even if you don’t get to see their smile, won’t you feel a speck of warmth on your chest? That’s a rare moment where your mind and body congratulate each other.

Happiness is the most valuable reward you can ever get. Those who are deprived of it struggles to find it and those who are blessed with it finds it not exciting. Any man, good or bad, does everything only to be happy at the end. But happiness can’t be bought by money or other worldly treasures.

Happiness can only be get by sharing. Don’t believe me? Consider yourself winning a prize and coming back to your lonely house. Would you feel happy if there were no one to share your winning moments with?

So why do we feel happy after a selfless act? Because you are giving happiness to someone else’s life without thinking of taking anything in return. And their happiness is somehow shared by a invisible thread between. It’s not a one-way road.

Be selfless. Because it gives the greatest reward on earth — happiness.
