My takeaway from this is, Amazon knows what you want and HAS what you want (everything store strategy). Google knows what you want but DOESN’T have what you want. This means Amazon can make money from the end purchase (with no requirement for ads), whereas Google MUST make money from ads, because it doesn’t own the end product.
In saying that, I don’t think Google will die, their revenue model will continue to evolve — they are well diversified.
