While your story may be accurate, your dismissive perspective isn’t very constructive. In fact, it doesn’t even mean this author’s writing was useless or futile; I would say it is still certainly worth noting! It’s infinitely frustrating to hear one-off anecdotes attached to white-washing statements (that beg their own at least tangential discussions) on the Internet these days that aim to simply refute rather than add substance for discursive progression. You seem to be articulate enough that it is a shame you don’t use that skill for specifically actionable change. I suppose your response to this (if there is one) will be indicative of such possibility.
