Arista Records Album Discography, Part 8: The 07822–19000 Series

By 1998, Arista had effectively separated the pop and country end of their numbering system in half, with country-oriented and latin-flavored releases occupying titles on a full 80% of albums between 07822–18830 and 07822–18930 (the remaining 20% of these numbers were unused). The non-country end of the series had a natural continuation at 07822–19000.

Also in 1998, Arista purchased — and immediately shut down — the Profile label, which had tremendous success with Run-D.M.C. and DJ Quik among others. DJ Quik had his titles reissued in the main series, while a separate 07822–16400 series was drafted partly to reissue other artists Profile used to record before being bought by Arista.

Only a handful of vinyl albums on this page used a black label with a background resembling a mountainous landscape at sunset and featuring the Arista name in front of the sunset; the text on the rest of the label appeared in a Eurostile font, as did a text ring that read “Manufactured by Arista Records, Inc., 6 W 57th St., N.Y., N.Y. 10019”.

In 1999, the vinyl record design changed, being in gray with black print with the ARISTA logo in an almond color with a metallic outline around it. At the bottom was text reading “COMM ℗ 1998, 1999 ARISTA RECORDS, INC.”

CDs of all genres on this page used custom labels.
