I disagree. Apple and Google’s mobile platforms have different security models and allow/disallow different capabilities to apps and APIs in the notification space. I see them diverging. Which ecosystem you join depends your particular needs. For example, Apple just banned f.lux’s screen temperature app. They want to reserve control of the hardware to themselves. That’s fine if you want zero configuration and can live with Apple’s defaults. But if you want control of the hardware, to, say, disable it for privacy reasons, you want Android.
