Should I be using Facebook’s boost post button for my business?

If you haven’t used any Facebook advertising you’re seriously missing out. Facebook is constantly evolving and is creating more and more features to help business owners more and more every day. If you use Facebook for your business/restaurant, it’s more than likely that you’ve boosted a few posts. At minimum, maybe you’ve done a $5 or $20 boost just to see the results. You probably gotten maybe a few likes and shares. If you’re lucky maybe you received a lot of like and shares. But you probably did NOT see those likes and shares translate into sales.

Boosting Facebook posts is simply a shortcut and the lazy man’s way of Facebook advertising. Now, while you will get some results from boosting posts, it is not half as effective as using Facebook Ads Manager or Power Editor. Many people continue to use it because it gives the illusion of results. Well, let’s be honest here; It does give you results. It just may not give you the results you’re looking for. Using boost gives up your power to Facebook and lets them decide everything for you. Of course, this makes more money for them and they’ll gladly take it.

The reasons why are while Facebook has up to 7 marketing objectives for advertising, post boosting only uses one. Engagement. Engagement includes liking, sharing, and commenting on your posts. Facebook has tons of data on the behavior of its users. So, when you boost a post they show your boosted posts to users who are most likely to engage with your post. While it increases awareness, this does not necessarily translate into sales. In addition to that Facebook chooses your ad placements and does not allow you to use many of the metrics that going into power editor or ad manager does.

I discovered this experimenting with Facebook Ads when it was new back in 2016. I used it to help me scale my entrepreneur page as a car sales consultant and to make over $4,000 in car sales commission in 30 days. Since then, I’ve read hundreds of books, taken several courses, been to seminars and have used FB Ads to personally scale my own businesses. But, you don’t have to take a crash course on Facebook Advertising like I did. Me and every member of my team has mastered FB Ads and we’re certified by Facebook to run successful Ad campaigns.
