The technique I chose is ‘a fun palace full of activities defined by pieces of architecture’ by Cedric Price. Cedric Price was born in 1934 and has been one of the most influential people in contemporary architecture. His projects represent an extreme adaptability , always thinking about the possibility that its use would change unpredictably. But without doubt, his most important project is the Fun Palace that is a free space and everyone can come and do whatever they want and make fun. The whole architecture is like a big machine and each structure like walls, platforms, floors, stairs, and ceiling can be changed to adapt to different function. Users can change and redesign the architecture. The fun palace in his idea is not just architecture and that is a community. His proposal is broader and see the architect as a mixture of technologist — sociologist — designer.

For my fun palace, I chose UTS tower as my model and i redesign it to be my imaginary architecture that could not be realised in future though. In the top level, there is a hall that ceiling and walls are steel frame so it is convenient to move to extend space to be higher and larger. Then, in the levels below it, there are classrooms. However, there are moving doors between each classroom rather than walls, so that two small classrooms can be mixed to be one big classrooms. In the lower left, there is a crane to operate each workshop (workshop is hanging like a lift) and each workshop is dispersive without affecting the others. In the lower right, each ball represent a room. The small one is a room for individual study and the big one is restroom.

Overall, the architects should consider users’ experience and give them chances to redesign the architecture when they use the architecture.
