Things I’ve learned thus far…
Going to graduate school has been a real ride. There are good days, when it seems nothing is due and then there are not so good days when you realize everything is due. I enjoy the calm when it exists and tell myself to ride the waves during the storm. One thing I knew well coming into this was that graduate school wasn’t meant to be easy, but I have to remind myself of that often. Working full-time and going to school isn’t my first choice but it also isn’t my last. I am thankful for this time and this program. I couldn’t imagine myself studying anything else at this time. I would like to share some things Graduate school has taught me this far. These are no particular order and they are the things that most stood out to me during my first term.
Strive to serve, not to lead.
Our choices can make social change.
Surround yourself with strangeness if you want to grow.
Culture shapes us.
We shape culture.
Ask more questions.
Don’t settle.
Take time to breathe and connect.
The creative process can be overwhelming but it can also be rewarding.
Don’t be afraid to change a dream.
Listen to others.
Be open to others opinions.
You were meant to create.
Pray for guidance.
One term down, 3 to go! Thanks for reading.
