Good analysis. I like that you acknowledge that the conservatives’ view of humourless “PC police” mindlessly enforcing empty, formulaic strictures is sometimes justified. Genuine thoughtfulness and self-examination are certainly needed, but simplistic slogans are no substitute. The Redneck Right loves Trump for precisely the same reason the Intellectual Left loved George Carlin: they both give/gave the finger to Political Correctness. The difference is that Carlin actually gave some forethought to his comments.

I wonder if the Humourless Enforcer wing of the PC Police will even consider the possibility that they have some responsibility for this mess.
