Here are some questions if you want to start questioning things :)
Some fun self-reflection

When’s the last time you did a lil’ self-reflection? Here we gooooo!
Note: This isn’t supposed to make you feel good or bad, just a little look inward and outward.
Author’s Note: these are all questions I started asking myself when I realized how insanely stressed out and miserable I was constantly (when I was sober). I’m still working on every aspect of myself and don’t even consider me near close to 10% of the person I’d like to be, mostly cuz I have to work out a lot of things in my head, but that will come in time. If you want to start on this little journey, don’t expect anything but getting to know yourself a little better, and just work on becoming a good person, and be easy on yourself. :)
Rules:
Take about 5 minutes. Take a deep breath every few questions. Don’t think too long about each question, answer yes/no or with a sentence each. Make sure to answer before looking at the next question. Be completely honest with yourself. You’re the only who knows what you answered. “I don’t know” is totes acceptable.
But first, listen to this song while answering:
It’s 2017, if you live in America, you could have literally anything you could possibly want delivered to your doorstep within 2 days…
Free two-day shipping aside, has your life been a little (or vastly) difficult?
^ Has it turned out fairly decently though?
Do you think anyone has had a life just as difficult and/or harder?
What do you like about President Trump?
Why do people like you?
^ Do you think Trump thinks the same about himself?
*breath*
What is the most expensive item from your wardrobe? How much?
^ How would you feel if you lost it? Why?
Would you ever pay $1000 for a diamond (maybe an engagement ring)? Why or why not?
Would you pay $1000 for a rubber ducky (also another possible engagement gift)? Why or why not?
^ Why do you think the diamond has more “value” than the rubber ducky?
What would you do with a million dollars?
Do you even want a million dollars? Why or why not?
Why do you desire things (clothes, alcohol, cars, makeup, tech gadgets)?
It’s 2017, why is there still hate in the world?
*breath*
When was the last time you were selfish? What did you gain?
When was the last time you judged someone for how they were acting/what they were wearing/something they did? This includes talking shit about someone.
^ When was the last time you felt judged from someone else? How’d that feel?
What was the last thing you were angry about? Are you still mad about it? Did you hurt anyone?
*breath*
When was the last time you were happy? Why?
Do you depend on others to give you happiness? Why or why not?
Do you give happiness? How often? Is it positive? (IE not making people laugh because you’re talking shit about someone else)
Why do your friends keep making the same mistakes?
Why do you keep making the same mistakes?
What’s the last mistake you learned from?
*breath*
When’s the last time someone did something nice for you?
^ What did they do? How did that make you feel?
When’s the last time you did something nice for someone else?
^ What did you do? How did that make you feel?
When’s the last time you volunteered your time to help someone else?
If you got offered a job that you loved every minute of, but had to take a 50% pay cut of what you currently make, donate half of your possessions, and move into a smaller house, would you do it?
*breath*
Why can’t the world be awesome all the time? For everyone?
Do you see how it’s possible?
Imagine how the world would be if everyone was super non-judgmental, very open-minded, able to communicate without anger, no one was jealous of anyone else, held no expectations for the world or others to make us happy, and we all took time to ensure that others were able to afford the same quality of life that we were able to had, for the rest of our lives?
Literally, what’s stopping us?
Is anything stopping you?
Deep breath.
So I guess my point here is..
If we barely understand ourselves, then we cannot begin to assume we understand others or the world around us: why people act certain ways, think certain ways, do certain things. We can observe, but really we will never know their history, their upbringing, their rhyme and reason for doing anything they choose to do.
All we can assume is that they want the same things we want, and wouldn’t we all like a little help from time to time?
Cool, right?
Just know, that everyone wants a good and happy life. So if you currently have a good and happy life, spread the wealth!
“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the single candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”

Jess Churchill is a writer-and-human-in-progress. About eight months ago, she gave up on the system in place and has been searching for one that makes sense, so she moved to Bulgaria and is watching the West implode from afar. She started questioning everything about herself and decided to do what any troubled human being would, start an advertising agency that does 100% pro bono work for non-profits. Catch her on Instagram making a fool out of herself and posting some terrible art.
