Anniversary Fun Times!

August 29th, 2018 marked the 1 year anniversary of my beloved and me. We went out for sushi during the day (see my previous post) and when the sun started to go down…well…things got a little more classy!

We ended up going to one of our favorite spots, a local winery that’s literally about 5–10 minutes from where we live. The Auburn Road Winery is beautiful. The inside is clean and the atmosphere is lovely…there’s a bar where you can order your food/drinks, and there are tables to sit down and enjoy yourself at. The real beauty is once you step outside.

Lush and green.

There are vines leading up to a stunning green canopy on the roof of the outdoor area. They have tables set up so you can enjoy the sun (they also have umbrellas in case you’re more of a vampire and want some shade). They also have a tented area that has pallet wood to sit on as makeshift chairs and tables. It’s really a beautiful sight.

This was the area for grape stomping….YES, GRAPE STOMPING!
Look at those vines and grapes!

The vineyard is beautiful. So many rows of lush green and purple grapes! We enjoyed the views for a while and basking in the evening sun. We ordered two bottles of the Pinot Grigio which is one of my new favorite wines from Auburn, and we just sat back and relaxed while people started to gather.

Here I am, with some resting bitch face…I dont know why I always have this in photos!

Once 7 o’clock rolled around, we got introduced to the fun things we were able to do that night. There was to be some food courses that would come out for us to try. We could taste their “Good Karma” red wine that they had just bottled, and try some of the merlot grapes. We could go inside and do wine tastings. We were invited to go around to the barrel room and try their new Port wine that probably wont be released for another year (but it was SO DAMN GOOD). We started off with the tasting of the Good Karma.

Good Karma tasting.

After that, we finished our Pinot Grigio and went around back to taste the Port.

Mmmmm, Pinot Grigio.
Barrel Room
Port. Delicious.
These grapes were beautiful. I can’t tell you enough how amazing this night was.

I’ll tell you a little about the food. Holy moly was it delicious. They started us out on a corn based gazpacho which was absolutely delightful. It had a bit of a kick to it (not sure what kind of pepper or spice they used but it was definitely a little spicy) and was garnished with cilantro. So tasty.

Next, they gave us toast with pimento cheese and grilled peaches. This was by far my favorite course of the night. Something about the blend of the spicy pimento cheese and the sweetness of the grilled peach was just to die for.

Last, they gave us a watermelon salad with a honey drizzle and blue cheese crumbles. It was refreshing and a very nice way to cleanse the palate and end the food selection.

Corn Gazpacho. Delicious!

After we ate, we went and entered the grape stomping competition. It was loads of fun. Who knew that stepping on squishy grapes could be so exciting! My fiance and I competed against each other and he kicked my butt, but I still managed to stomp out over 2 pounds of grape juice. Crazy!

Just a bunch of lovely people!

As the night dwindled down, the twinkle lights kicked on and the atmosphere got much more intimate and peaceful. Overall, it was an amazing time.

Twinkle, twinkle…

If you are local to the South Jersey area, I suggest you try out this winery. It is amazing. They have all sorts of fun events you can go to, and their wine selection is superb. Please check out Auburn Road Winery!

Love Always, Jess
