Attitude of Gratitude Challenge: Day 29 — Writing My Way to a More Thankful Heart

Today I’m grateful for:
My grandmother’s enchilada recipe. I started the day feeling anxious and knew I needed to do something to calm my nerves. Cooking and eating a delicious meal can help to relieve stress for me, so that’s what I did; I made my grandmother’s cheese and onion enchiladas. There’s comfort in making the familiar red sauce that smells so spicy, in laying out the ingredients to fill the tortillas, and in rolling them up and putting them on a tray to pop in the oven to quickly melt the cheese. I’m grateful to have the recipe and the connection to my grandmother.
Favorite films. I needed to relax and wind down after a stressful day, so I put on You’ve Got Mail which is one of my favorite movies. It’s perfect to watch anytime, and if I miss any parts, it’s not a big deal because I have it memorized from watching it so many times with Scarlett!
Magdalena. Like I said above, the day was long and stressful, and I needed to rest but also needed to get Manny dinner when he came home from work. My wonderful daughter Magdalena is always eager to help, so she made Manny a chicken salad and warmed up enchiladas for him so I could rest.
