Galbraith Family in Asia-week three

We are a family of ten, eight children under the age of 14 and my husband and I. We decided to travel through Asia this summer for eight weeks. Here is an accounting of week three! Ben took his first trip and we are celebrating our oldest daughter’s 14th birthday today.

Ben Traveling

Ok, so truth be told, I felt a little hesitant when Ben explained that as part of our adventure in Asia, he would want to spend some time meeting with developers throughout Asia. I’m pretty sure he has a trip a week planned from now on and yesterday he left on his first. So far, all the children are accounted for!

Jacqueline is turning 14!

Zachary, Abigail and I went shopping for crepe supplies yesterday and the three of us barely made it home with all the groceries. Every time the kids wanted to buy something I told them that it was too heavy! As it turned out, I had two, extremely heavy bags and each of the two kids each had one and we had to stop several times to get them the seven blocks home. I set my alarm to get up at 6:30 to make the crepes but Olivia has been sick and was awake for most of the night so when the alarm went off, I hit snooze for just 9 minutes. Before the alarm could go off again however, Alexis woke me up and reminded me that we needed to make the breakfast in bed for Jacqueline. She did most of the work and it made such a difference having a friend in the kitchen with me. I made the crepes and she cut and washed all the fruit and prepared the tray with a flower, juice and whipped cream. We all sang Happy Birthday in Mandarin as we walked into Jacqueline’s room and she seemed happy. It was a trick getting everyone out the door to Mandarin school on time after that but we made it. I feel like my brain needs a little more sleep to really learn Mandarin well!

Ferris Wheel

We found a beautiful public park close by the ferris wheel where we played a large connect four, ping pong, chess, badminton and capture the flag. It was all for free! A public offering by the government and not very crowded at all! None of them were in use when we arrived and only three other families came around to use the facilities. All synthetic turf and rubber walkways, it was clean and well kept.

Mandarin House

The kids spend their time learning Mandarin and learning Chinese culture at their summer camp. Here are their creative fans!
