I see the point about intellectualist apocalypse but I don’t think social media is necessarily the underpinning of it. It has surely done a lot of damage but I think it has also made some big impacts too. I’ve learned so much from social media: my mind has been challenged by my interactions online, hell Medium is a product of social media too. I love social media, and I think we are actually moving toward a place of learning how to harness social media’s power for good.
