Just using Gutbloom’s words, “There is no press that covers Silicon Valley for real.”

Ah, that makes sense. I don’t know much about The Ringer’s strategy, but here at Backchannel we consider our coverage “for real” because unlike a lot of tech blogs and newsletter, we put a lot of dollars into flat-out shoe leather reporting. We send our writers to the companies we write about, and we edit the hell out of the copy they turn in so that it’s balanced. It’s a slower process — instead of publishing many stories daily like you do in your newsletter, which I greatly enjoy, we publish three each week. But we think it’s real coverage, and coverage that really matters.
