While it’s true that banks charge fees, the main distinguisher b/w banks and other kinds of businesses is that banks spawn credit — via mechanisms for lending money that they, the banks, don’t actually have. Unless cryptocurrencies are coming up with ways to do that bit of conjuring, they’re not just going back to traditional banking, or competing with it.
