RE-EDITION MAGAZINE

luxury English brands have a strong heritage compared to Europe, in this we will explore the creative innovation of Alexander McQueen, Jimmy Choo and, JW Anderson as these are the most prolific with the London fashion scene, all having unique brand stories and a new take on luxury.

Alexander McQueen

@vogue

Alexander McQueen is distinguishable compared to most British brands, created in 1992 by creating drama and advocating against typical ready-wear, incorporating leather laser cut-like lace and creating strong women within their collections. Their focus is on craftmenship and bold statements to push the brand forward.

The brand aesthetic gives luxury a taste of high fashion fused with the raw energy of London streets and the Scottish heritage of his dad’s DNA. Alexander McQueen explores a depth of fantasy with the statements of harsh reality.

Jimmy Choo

@jimmychoo

Jimmy Choo began in the 1980s, and again from London such as McQueen, they have become synonymous with Glamour. The footwear brand is a powerhouse not just in glamour but style, creating unique styles of heels, mules and flats.

They have innovated by becoming a lifestyle brand in recent years, including handbags, small leather goods, and scarves. Jimmy Choo’s sartorial choices entice a rich clientele both in artistry and love for old-style glamour.

The brand continues to be celebrated for its styles by celebrities, they feature on most red carpets and high profile events.

JW Anderson

@voguerunway

JW Anderson pushes the envelope in gender and artistic sensibility, a much younger brand than the others started in 2008, the brand in womenswear and menswear has a curatorial approach to fashion and less of a design process, more mood board and reference pulling within his work, the mood board focus is contemporary and historical, its playful and fresh.

founded by Johnathan Anderson, Johnathan has pushed boundaries from the start, showcasing his first menswear that included controversial ruffle shorts, the proposal has defined him as artistic much like Prada, himself being an ex-visual merchandiser for Prada, knows his business skills and confidence when it comes to designing.

within the time he has taken on the brand Loewe, having investment from LVMH has helped him push his brand. Johnathan has collaborated with Uniqlo, Topshop, and, Versace further cementing his footing within the luxury fashion sector. The brand’s strong identity and acceptance of the digital era have helped Jw Anderson remain at the forefront of UK and international fashion.
