No Enough Space Available to Create Partition? Try This Tool

When I am using Windows Server 2008, I encounter a problem. I want to create a new partition on free space by using Windows snap-in Disk Management, and everything goes well until I receive a warning like this: “There is not enough space available on the disk(s) to complete this operation.”

Obviously, there is large enough space which can be used to create a new partition. But why the Disk Management doesn’t allow me to create a new partition on that free space? In my judgment, the Windows snap-in Disk Management only enables you to create primary partition on unallocated space. But the later versions since Windows XP only allow you to create primary partition. That is to say I can’t create partition on free space.

Besides, this error may happen in many cases. This post: Solved — There Is Not Enough Space Available on the Disk(s) to Complete This Operation lists more cases and solutions.

Under this situation, I decide to take some actions. Since the free space can’t be used to create primary, I should use the function “Delete Partition” of Disk Management to change the free space into unallocated space. Then I can create primary partition on it.

But this is not the unique way to solve this problem. With a piece of professional partition software, I can create a new partition, whether it is a primary partition or a logical partition, on that free space. This magic tool is MiniTool Partition Wizard.

How to Create Partition If there Is not Enough Space

MiniTool Partition Wizard is a program which is specially designed to partition hard disks, migrate system, convert disk types, convert file systems, and more. The Free Edition can solve the above issue. But I am using Windows Server OS, so I must purchase the Server Edition to solve this issue.

This Server Edition supports Windows Server 2003/2008/2011/2012 and Windows 10, Windows 8.1/8/7/Vista/XP 32-bit and 64-bit.

The following is about the detailed steps.

Step 1. Open the program and enter the main interface. Select the unallocated space and choose “Create” from the right click menu.

Step 2. I get a pop-out window as following. Change the property of the new partition, and then click “OK” to back to the main interface.

Step 3. Then I can preview the creation effect. At last, I still need to press “Apply” to save the change.

After these three simple steps, I get what I want.

It is obvious that MiniTool Partition Wizard breaks the limitations on Disk Management and makes every operation easy. I believe that this magic tool can assist me to solve more problems. So if you have any issued about disk partition, you should try this tool.
