Reading is crucial to one’s development & used throughout the journey of life. But, why do many people stop reading?

If you look throughout history the most innovative & successful individuals are constantly gaining new knowledge & reading books. A study, from the Business Insider, demonstrates this concept.

Reading has several benefits to your overall health. Here are a couple of benefits:

  1. Reading stimulates the neurological pathways in the brain. Proven by several studies & research.
  2. Reading poetry helps the body cope with stress. Especially, in today’s society where we are constantly surrounded by stress.
  3. Reading helps slow down cognitive decline and prevent mental illnesses. This can be a huge problem as we age but can help prevent it by keeping our minds active.

Reading also helps you with your career and life.

  1. Reading helps you set goals. Everyone needs to set realistic goals of what they want to accomplish and how make them happen.
  2. Reading increases your focus. You need to stay focused while reading a book. This will only help you focus on your craft & other activities you need to work on.
  3. Reading makes you aware of how you spend your time. We can’t by back time so spend it wisely.
  4. Reading makes you reflect. You will be able to reflect on what is currently going on in your life and make better future decisions.
  5. Reading increases your writing and speaking skills. One of the most powerful tools you can have at your disposal.

At the end of the day, just by reading or learning something little massively affects our lives. So let’s keep on reading and exploring.
